About: In October 1998, Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay college student, was brutally attacked and left to die on the plains outside Laramie, Wyoming. In the wake of this devastating crime, Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project Traveled to Laramie six times over the course of one year, conducting over 200 interviews with the town's residents.
Constructed directly from those conversations, The Laramie Project is a deeply moving modern theatrical experience. Part drama, part documentary, part true crime tale, this play offers a complex portrait of a rural community in crisis, exploring both the depths of human cruelty and the incredible heights of human compassion.
